Rental Policies

Rental Policies

Neumann's Loafers Retreat has operated 25 plus years without forcing our guests to sign a rental policy. We try to be accommodating owners but please be respectful of our property and read over these rules and regulations. Guests agree to these policies upon payment of the cottage rental.

Reservation Policies

All reservations are made via email or phone. Please call 989.595.5010 to make arrangements. A $100 dollar deposit is required (due at the time of booking) to hold your reservation. A check must be made payable to Neumann's Loafers Retreat and mailed immediately. The deposit will be deducted from your rental amount due upon arrival.

Check In/Out Times

Cottages that are rented weekly (Saturday to Saturday) have a check in time of 2:00pm and a check out time of 10:00am. Weekend and Nightly Rentals have the same check in/out times. If you would like early check in or late checkout, please call to inquire. Early check in and late checkout are not guaranteed and depend on the arrival/departure of other guests.

Security Deposit and Damages Incurred

Neumann's Loafers Retreat does not charge a security deposit but we do reserve the right to bill you for any damages to the cottage(s) that are above and beyond normal wear and tear. If the cottage needs excessive cleaning, if there are missing items or keys we will send a bill to your home address.

These rental cottages are a private residence and you agree (upon payment for the rental) to indemnify the owner(s) for any loss to the property or its contents that occur during your stay. The person who made the reservations will be responsible for all damages accidental or malicious.

Noncompliance with these rental policies and/or any illegal activity or conduct creating a nuisance, waste hazard or disturbance are each grounds for immediate eviction without refund.

Cancellation Policy

Neumann's Loafers Retreat appreciates notice in advance if you are unable to make your reservation dates. If you cancel within 30 days of your reservation Neumann's Loafers Retreat will keep your $100 reservation deposit. We will refund the deposit IF we are able to re-rent the cottage. We work hard to keep our cottages rented at all times. We understand that circumstances sometimes occur beyond your control but please keep in mind we need to rent out any cottages not filled.

Refunds

Neumann's Loafers Retreat does not refund rental amounts due to bad weather or bad fishing. No refunds for power or cable outages. No refunds for appliance or plumbing failures. Please report all issues to the Office and we will do our very best to resolve any problems.

Occupancy

Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 6 persons. Exceeding those limits could result in eviction unless prior arrangements are made with management. We only rent to responsible adults. Adults cannot rent properties on behalf of underage guests.

Large Groups and Reunions

Neumann's Loafers Retreat does not mind day visitors to the property but please be sure not to exceed the maximum occupancy for each cottage for sleeping. Loafers Retreat asks that you not plan large gatherings or reunions on the property. If you are uncertain if your situation applies, please ask and we can advise a plan.

Pets

We reserve the right to allow pets on a per case basis. You must call the Office at 989.595.5010 to inquire if your pet may accompany your family.

Smoking

Smoking is allowed on the property but outside the cottage(s) only. Please dispose of cigarette butts safely when smoking outside. We do not enjoy picking up cigarette butts on our property. We thank you in advance.

Parking

RVs and campers are only permitted on the grounds if the management is informed in advance. If you are bringing a boat, four wheeler or motorcycle please inform us so we can assure there is enough parking for all guests who are renting. Parking is not allowed on the street, lawns or neighboring properties.

Docks and Decks May Be Slippery

Neumann's Loafers Retreat recently added a grip texture paint to the docks and decks. However, the docks and decks may be slippery when wet, please be cautious.

Swimming Rules and Use of Watercraft

You acknowledge the fact that there is no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Notify all other guests in your group of swimming and boating risk. Please monitor your children closely while swimming. Also, please be respectful and do not sit on the inside furniture with wet clothing.

The sand beach located in front of the Main House and The Rynn is for all guests to use. Please share and try to prevent quarreling between children. Try to keep noise levels to a moderate level.

Use of watercraft is at your own risk. Each watercraft must have a life jacket on board for each person. Persons younger than 12 years of age are required to wear a life jacket while riding or operating any watercraft. Extra life jackets are available upon request from the Office. For more information on Michigan's life jacket laws, please see their website.
